Director of Communications – Full Time

Hawaii’s only locally owned statewide television station is seeking an experienced, innovative team leader to manage PBS Hawaii’s communications strategy on multiple platforms—on air, website, social media, program guide, e-newsletters and e-blasts. Duties include: Writing and managing press releases, public information and promotional/marketing material, as well as editing the monthly program guide. Other duties include managing and coordinating the advertising budget and outreach activities.

This position requires excellent writing skills, knowledge of PR and marketing and the ability to meet deadlines and successfully collaborate with others to further this nonprofit’s educational mission. Ideal candidate will have knowledge of video streaming, social networking, website development, and new digital trends. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience needed.

HIKI NŌ Online Editor – Full Time

Hawaii's only locally owned statewide television station is seeking a full-time Online Editor for HIKI NŌ, the statewide student news program. Duties include: Downloading HD video files and assembling half-hour programs to PBS Hawaii standards for broadcast, aiding in the training of teachers and students at participating schools, converting a wide range of digital files, editing and co-producing various HIKI NŌ related material, and participating in outreach events.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in film/video production and four years' experience in non-linear editing (Final Cut Pro) required. Must have knowledge of good editing principles, the ability to meet specific deadlines, multi-task, and be organized. Patience and strong communication skills required for teaching various skill levels. Successful candidate should have a passion for education, be detail oriented, and proficient in graphics, animation, and color-correction programs. Knowledge of HIKI NŌ preferred.

Student Production Technician – Part Time

Seeking responsible student to assist our Creative Services Department. On-the-job training includes learning to operate video cameras, video switcher, audio equipment, character generator, still store, and teleprompter during in-studio productions; also, train to assist with lighting and floor directing. Occasional field work required, which includes carrying equipment and driving company vehicles. College students interested in pursuing a career in production preferred. Hours vary weekly, depending on production schedule. No experience necessary. Clean drivers abstract a plus.
