The Bon Dance festival is a time to celebrate and honor ancestors through song and dance. Niigata Ondo is one of the dances performed at these festivals but has since the 1970s, nearly faded away. In honor of the late Richard Kotaka, Niigata Ondo is being brought back to Waipahu Soto Zen Temple for the first time in 50 years.
