July marked the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA. The legislation prohibits discrimination and ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, State and local government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities and transportation. But many advocates say more work is needed to improve the lives of Hawai‘i residents with physical disabilities. What are the challenges facing people with physical disabilities?
