With the troubled economy, recession, and high cost of living in Hawaii what is happening to the poverty rate? Host Dan Boylan and this week's panel will discuss what poverty means in Hawaii, what's being done to get people out and help them stay out of poverty, and what programs are helping with the problem. Guests include Jerry Rauckhorst, President and CEO of Catholic Charities Hawaii; Sen. Suzanne Chun Oakland, Chair of the Committee on Human Services; Teresa Bill, UH Bridge to Hope; and Patrick Hurney, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity-West Hawaii. Contributing editor Howard Dicus files his weekly "Everybody's Business" report on the state of Hawaii's economy and places the show's topic in an economic context.
