Legislative Wrap Up On the May 12 episode of Insights, we'll examine the results of the just-concluded 2011 legislative session. This year the unenviable task put before state lawmakers was finding a way to close a budget deficit estimated at more than a billion dollars over the next 2 years. When the job calls for raising taxes and cutting spending on critical services, it's hard to make anyone happy. How did they do? We'll ask House and Senate leaders, a member of the Republican minority and our State Capitol analyst Richard Borreca to weigh in. This conversation was recorded on May 12, 2011 in the PBS Hawaii studio. Insights on PBS Hawaii is presented on Thursdays at 7:30. |
