5. Is my gift tax-deductible?
PBS Hawaii is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. When you make a contribution
of any dollar amount to us, your gift is fully tax-deductible. The only exception
to full tax-deductibility is when you receive a tangible benefit in exchange
for your contribution. In such cases, the fair market value will need to be subtracted
from the total contribution amount. For example, if you make a gift of $100 and
request a thank you gift from one of our membership drives that is valued at
$20, the total deductibility of your gift is $80.

6. Will I receive a donation statement for tax purposes?
The thank you letter that you receive serves as your receipt. If your contributions
total $250 or more during a calendar year or you are a member of our Producers’ Circle,
you’ll automatically receive a single receipt at the beginning of the New
Year. If you need additional verification of your donation or have any questions
regarding a thank you gift that you may have received, please contact our Member
Services Hotline at tel: (808) 973-1187. We will be happy to provide you with
a receipt.

8. How do membership drives help to support PBS Hawaii?
Our on-air membership drives remain the most e cost-effective way of encouraging
viewers to join our PBS Hawaii family of members. While these important drives
represent less than 2 percent of our annual broadcast hours, they provide us
with much of the revenue needed to purchase and produce our quality programs.
Programs shown during our membership drives are designed to accommodate pledge
breaks.

9. I pledged during the last membership drive. When can I expect my thank you
gift?
We ask our members to allow up to 8 weeks once payment is received for delivery
of their gift. Many of the gifts will be sent out immediately, and some will
take the full 8 weeks. On rare occasions, there can be additional delays because
national demand for an item may slow down our distributors. If we know of such
a delay, a letter will be sent notifying you of any changes.
Please contact our Member Services Hotline at tel: (808) 973-1187 if you have
had a change of address, if the 8 weeks have passed and you have not received
your gift, or if you have any other questions. We welcome your calls or emails
and will do everything possible to get your gift to you quickly.

10. Will you inform me when it's time to renew my membership?
As a convenience to you, our Membership Department will notify you when your
membership is near renewal. Your anniversary date is indicated on your VIEW label.
You will receive a renewal notice in your ninth month of membership. To renew,
you can charge your American Express, Visa, or MasterCard by using the online
registration form or by contacting our Member Services Hotline at tel: (808)
973-1187 or toll-free at (800) 238-4847.

11. I made a contribution to PBS Hawaii recently, yet I have received a renewal
notice indicating that my membership has expired. How can I be sure that my donation
was received and that it was credited as a membership renewal?
To use as much of your donation for programming as possible, we print and send
out renewal notices in bulk. Since it requires two weeks for a renewal letter
to be printed and mailed, your contribution and our letter may have crossed in
the mail. PBS Hawaii keeps member renewal dates consistent to avoid confusion.
Many viewer-members also choose to make additional contributions, above and beyond
their annual membership gift throughout the year.
If you make a contribution within three months of your anniversary date, your
gift is considered a renewal, and your account will be extended for one year.
A contribution made more than 4 months from your renewal date is considered an
additional gift and will not affect your anniversary date, unless requested.
If you make a contribution and would like us to renew your account at that time,
please indicate “Renewal” on your reply piece. Our members are very
important to us and we will be happy to honor your request. If you have any further
questions, please call our Member Services Hotline at tel: (808) 973-1187 or
toll-free at (800) 238-4847.
