Words, Earth & Aloha: The Source of Hawaiian Music
PBS HAWAIʻI PRESENTS
PBS HAWAIʻI, in partnership with the Hawaiian Legacy Foundation, features Words, Earth & Aloha: The Source of Hawaiian Music, one of ten documentary films by Eddie and Myrna Kamae.
The late Eddie Kamae and his wife Myrna created films to perpetuate Hawai‘i’s cultural heritage for future generations.
Words, Earth & Aloha: The Source of Hawaiian Music features some of Hawaiʻi’s most respected cultural resources and talented performers. The documentary pays tribute to composers who flourished between the 1870s and the 1920s and looks closely at Hawaiian lyrics, the places that inspired them and charts the evolution of Hawaiian music with the introduction of imported musical forms.
