The Raleigh Ringers

 

The Raleigh Ringers, an internationally acclaimed community handbell choir based in Raleigh, North Carolina, present holiday song selections from old yuletide favorites to Vince Guaraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas” score and other sounds of the season. Highlights include: the French carol “Pat-a-pan,” “March of the Toys” from the operetta Babes in Toyland, Chopin’s “Valse Brilliante,” and “Silent Night.”

Renowned star of stage and song Santino Fontana and the Muppets from Sesame Street join the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah for a magical holiday extravaganza. The concert includes a rendition of a classic carol from Sesame Street, “Keep Christmas with You,” as well as “Sing a Christmas Carol” from Scrooge, and inspiring arrangements of sacred Christmas music.

Soprano Deborah Voigt and acclaimed British actor and voice artist John Rhys-Davies join the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square in Salt lake City, Utah for a concert of holiday favorites.  Among the highlights are Voigt’s performances of the English carol “The Holly and the Ivy” and the light-hearted “The Twelve Days After Christmas” with the choir and orchestra.

 

The program also includes two festive Russian pieces, with dancers joining the choir and orchestra for excerpts from Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Polonaise” from Christmas Eve and “Dance of the Tumblers” from Tchaikovsky’s The Snow Maiden.
Another highlight is Rhys-Davies’ dramatization of “A Dickens Christmas,” a vignette featuring him as the Ghost of Christmas Present.

Cities visited include: Vienna, where Christmas markets come alive within the city’s grand buildings; Budapest, with its grand Parliament and spectacular river setting; Salzburg, where music fills the air at the Christmas Markets in Mozart’s birthplace; Oberndorf, where we learn the origin of the most famous Christmas carol, “Silent Night.” Other highlights include a visit to the Melk Abbey, the old town on Passau and the charming Christmas Market in Bratislava.
