One of the problems mentioned most by people living in Hawai‘i is the lack of affordable housing across all islands. Statewide, the median price of a house is reported at more than $600,000 – and prices keep going up. But we don’t hear very often what’s being done about the problem.
This episode examines the politics, profits and problems of an affordable housing system in crisis. Investigate the billions spent on housing the poor and why so few get the help they need.
PBS Hawaiʻi continues to ask What’s it Going to Take? in a continuing series of live on-air/online forums seeking to engage the community-at-large and policymakers in authentic conversations about making life better in Hawaiʻi.
