Renowned star of stage and song Santino Fontana and the Muppets from Sesame Street join the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah for a magical holiday extravaganza. The concert includes a rendition of a classic carol from Sesame Street, “Keep Christmas with You,” as well as “Sing a Christmas Carol” from Scrooge, and inspiring arrangements of sacred Christmas music.

This special features 19 unforgettable arias and duets selected from the past eight seasons of GREAT PERFORMANCES at The Met broadcasts, performed by today’s greatest opera stars and talents. Hosted by soprano Deborah Voigt, the special covers a wide range of operatic ground, from heartbreak to hilarity, delivered by such artists as Natalie Dessay, Plácido Domingo, Renee Fleming, Juan Diego Flórez, Jonas Kaufmann, Anna Netrebko, and Voigt herself.

Soprano Deborah Voigt and acclaimed British actor and voice artist John Rhys-Davies join the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square in Salt lake City, Utah for a concert of holiday favorites.  Among the highlights are Voigt’s performances of the English carol “The Holly and the Ivy” and the light-hearted “The Twelve Days After Christmas” with the choir and orchestra.

 

The program also includes two festive Russian pieces, with dancers joining the choir and orchestra for excerpts from Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Polonaise” from Christmas Eve and “Dance of the Tumblers” from Tchaikovsky’s The Snow Maiden.
Another highlight is Rhys-Davies’ dramatization of “A Dickens Christmas,” a vignette featuring him as the Ghost of Christmas Present.
