The LA Philharmonic’s gala celebration of John Williams’ peerless achievements reunites him with violinist Itzhak Perlman. The performance features Williams’ noted compositions, including themes from Schindler’s List and Star Wars.

From Vienna: The New Year’s Celebration 2017

 

Julie Andrews hosts a traditional ringing in of the New Year with the Vienna Philharmonic, under the baton of guest conductor Gustavo Dudamel. The program features Strauss Family waltzes and a picturesque range of Vienna landmarks.

Enjoy a new production of Rossini’s opera, based on the work by Sir Walter Scott. Joyce DiDonato sings the title role of Elena, the lady of the lake, with Juan Diego Flórez in the role of Giacomo, the benevolent king of Scotland. The opera also features Daniela Barcellona, John Osborn and Oren Gradus. Michele Mariotti conducts.

Enjoy an operatic double bill: Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta features Anna Netrebko and Piotr Beczala. Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle features Nadja Michael and Mikhail Petrenko. Valery Gergiev conducts both operas.

Virtuoso pianist Lang Lang joins Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic for the launch of its 2015-16 season and the dedication of the newly named David Geffen Hall. Musical highlights include Grieg’s Piano Concerto and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.
