SAMANTHA BROWN’S PLACES TO LOVE: Oregon RV Trip

Samantha ends this season with an all-American family RV road trip throughout the state of Oregon. From Hood River to Fossil to Bend, Samantha and her family take in the magnificent scenery and explore some of the most intriguing stops along the way. She also learns how to drive an authentic Model T car, and visits a real-working ranch, where she gets to herd Black Angus cattle.

SAMANTHA BROWN’S PLACES TO LOVE
Houston, Texas

When it comes best destination cities in the US, does Houston make your list? Maybe it should. As one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country, this city offers something for everyone. Not only that, but it’s really become a melting pot of all sorts of different cultures. Throw in a booming art and food scene, and I think Houston just might be a vacation destination that’s hiding in plain sight.

INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAI‘I
Dubious Distinction

Hawai‘i has the Dubious Distinction of having more visitor drowning deaths than any other place in the country. According to the State Department of Health, Hawai‘i’s visitor drowning rate is 13 times the national average, and 10 times the rate for residents. This hasn’t gone unnoticed by the national media, and the military refers to water-surrounded Hawai‘i as the Drowning Capital of the U.S. Why is our visitor drowning rate so high and what can be done about it? INSIGHTS poses the question to people who know how to make everyone safer in our waters.

INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAI‘I
Is Hawai‘i a Dangerous Destination?

Is Hawai‘i a dangerous destination? Some national media outlets think so. The Huffington Post declared “too many tourists are dying in Hawai‘i,” and a Bay Area NBC station included Hawai‘i when it promised “Dangerous Destinations Revealed.” Our visitors are aggressively seeking out the next thrill for a selfie, while our rescue teams put their lives on the line when something goes wrong.
