After the screening, we had a Q&A hosted by Chuck Parker the Vice President of Content here at PBS Hawaiʻi with panelists:

  • Dr. Claire Panosian Dunavan, a tropical medicine, global health and infectious disease specialist and producer of the film, Accidental Host: The Story of Rat Lungworm Disease.
  • Espie Hilton, a 30-year nursing veteran from Hilo who had previously cared for other rat lungworm patients in her medical center’s ICU, then actively advocated for her own diagnosis and treatment when she herself fell ill.
  • Dr. Vernon Ansdell, long-time tropical medicine specialist in Hawaiʻi and member of the Governor’s Task Force who recently published new recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of rat lungworm disease.
