Part II: Jawaii steps into the late ’80s and early ’90s, a pivotal time when local musicians began to make reggae their own.

The PBS National Board approved an Emergency Dues Relief Plan to provide financial assistance to stations, like PBS Hawaiʻi, that rely on federal Community Service Grant funding. This funding is primarily used to purchase and air national PBS programming, which costs PBS Hawaiʻi nearly $1.6 million each year. Under the approved plan, PBS Hawaiʻi will receive a one-time cost reduction. While this reduction is significant, the loss of federal funding means PBS Hawai‘i must now cover the full cost of national programming—$1,342,469—on our own.

PREMIERE – NOVEMBER 14 Attention kids, parents and caregivers! CARL THE COLLECTOR is a new series for kids ages 4-8 that follows the adventures of Carl, a warm-hearted autistic raccoon who enjoys collecting things.
We had a blast at the Kalihi-Palama library with some of our littlest friends! The librarian did a read-aloud about stories about the importance of keeping our sewers clean and the magnitude of caring for our beaches. Keiki left with a book about Oscar and his Sesame Street friends showing young readers that reducing, reusing and recycling lessens their impact on the planet. It was a day full of fun and eco-friendly education.
