High School Surfing
INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAI‘I
In Hawaiʻi, surfing is more than just a sport. It’s a way of life that’s deeply rooted in our culture and history. Starting next spring, high school surfing will be an interscholastic state championship sport. The move to officially add surfing to the athletics line-up has been years in the making. How will this work? What are the safety concerns and how this will benefit students?
