PBS Hawaiʻi provided live coverage when Hōkūleʻa returned to Hawaiʻi on July 26, 1976 from its maiden voyage to Tahiti. Celebrity Al Harrington hosted the 90-minute program from Magic Island in Honolulu as tens of thousands of people gathered to greet the canoe.
