Price of Paradise follows the deeply moving journey of Lindamae Lawelawe Maldonado, a Native Hawaiian woman living in Las Vegas who, at the age of 55, begins to uncover the truth about her past. For decades, she lived without knowing the circumstances of her adoption, until she learns that government officials forcibly took her from her parents who had been patients at Kalaupapa, the remote Hansen’s disease settlement on the island of Moloka‘i.
