On this episode of HIKI NŌ on PBS Hawaiʻi, hosts Kiara Hamora and Alohilani Riklon of Kealakehe High School reveal the winning entries of HIKI NŌ’s 2026 Spring Challenge competition.
For this year’s Story Challenge, the call was for stories based on the prompt “WHERE WE MEET THE WATER.”
HIKI NŌ Challenges are held three times a school year and provide students with the opportunity to review and learn HIKI NŌ production standards, test their skills, and get a taste for what it is like to produce work under professional deadlines.
This time they only had one week to complete production, and they had to weather a Kona Low storm that affected multiple islands in the Hawaiian chain.
Find out which schools were selected as standouts for their technical skill and storytelling finesse.
