The PBS National Board approved an Emergency Dues Relief Plan to provide financial assistance to stations, like PBS Hawaiʻi, that rely on federal Community Service Grant funding. This funding is primarily used to purchase and air national PBS programming, which costs PBS Hawaiʻi nearly $1.6 million each year. Under the approved plan, PBS Hawaiʻi will receive a one-time cost reduction. While this reduction is significant, the loss of federal funding means PBS Hawai‘i must now cover the full cost of national programming—$1,342,469—on our own.
