Natalie Lett
Winner of 2022 STN Awards
HIKI NŌ student and incoming Kaua`i High School senior Natalie Lett was selected to attend the prestigious PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs’ 2022 Summer Academy. The intensive video journalism boot camp took place at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. Natalie worked with three other student journalists from across the country to produce this outstanding story about Frank Ornelas, who founded the Rascepatatiando Dance Company where he trains promising next generation dancers who don’t have the financial means to enroll in dance classes.
In May, Natalie was featured in the PBS Hawaiʻi/HIKI NŌ documentary “Limitless Aloha: STN in Hawaiʻi”. In it, Natalie recalls taking first place in the Multimedia Journalist category of the national Student Television Network competition, and how that experience inspired her to pursue a career in journalism.
