INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAIʻI

INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAIʻI Election 2020 features Windward Oʻahu’s four-way Democratic Primary contest for the open seat representing State House District 51, Kailua and Waimānalo. (Incumbent Democrat Chris Lee is running for the State Senate.) None of the candidates has ever served in the State Legislature. All have longtime connections to Kailua. They are: Deputy State Public Defender Alan Akao; University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa economics student Coby Chock; former online business owner Scott Grimmer; and Lisa Marten, who earned a doctorate in Public Health at Columbia University. (The Democratic winner will face the victor of a two-person Republican Primary, a race featured on INSIGHTS on 7.16.20.)
