Three candidates who did not have to go through a primary election face off for the State Senate seat that represents Central Oʻahu from Mililani Town to Royal Kunia, the seat formerly held by Michelle Kidani who retired in June. By law, political parties certified for the election chose their candidate to run and the non-partisan candidate was chosen by lot.
