Two General Election races for the Hawaii County Council are runoffs, as no candidate won a clear majority in the Primary Election. In District 5, which represents upper Puna including Kurtistown and Mountain View and parts of Keaʻau, incumbent Matt Kānealiʻi-Kleinfelder faces a challenge from Ikaika Rodenhurst. And in District 9, which includes Kapaʻau, Hāwī and Waimea, incumbent Cindy Evans faces James Hustace.
