In this episode of HIKI NŌ on PBS Hawai‘i, student reporters investigate the issue of erosion, explore a local bookshop that supports Maui libraries, teach viewers how to use a special typewriter and share journeys toward self-acceptance.

Nyori Noelle Soriano, a junior at Ka‘u High and Pahala Elementary School on Hawai‘i Island, tells the story of how she became more confident in her own skin while dealing with psoriasis.

Also on the Big Island, students at Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy explore Ulu Mau Puanui, a nonprofit dedicated to perpetuating the traditional Hawaiian methods of rain-fed farming, and students from Waiākea High School shadow kids who attend an annual Okinawan cultural summer camp.

Waikīkī Elementary School students on O‘ahu share their classroom activity-based learning initiative and teach viewers how to use a Braille typewriter.

HIKI NŌ student reporter Isabella Seaman, an 8th grader at Highlands Intermediate School, shares her interview scoop with a Palolo valley resident whose home and life was rattled by a sudden rockslide.

Students from Maui Waena Intermediate School on Maui interview a long time volunteer with the Maui Friends of The Library.

Show host Denise Cabrera, a senior at Wai‘anae High School, also shares an archive story of a judo instructor she produced while she attended Wai‘anae Intermediate School.
