INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAIʻI
Domestic Violence

Why is Domestic Violence still taking place, in staggering numbers, and how do we stop it? At least one in three women and one in four men nationwide are victims of violence at the hands of their partner during their lifetime, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. On a typical day, domestic violence hotlines nationally receive 21,000 calls for help, or about 15 calls every minute. Hawaiʻi’s domestic violence programs serve more than 500 people per day.
