This episode of HIKI NŌ on PBS Hawai‘i is focused on the youngest generation of Hawai‘i’s New Wave of Storytellers and includes a packed show of stories produced by HIKI NŌ elementary schools across the state.
Students at Alvah Scott Elementary School on Oʻahu share one of their very first projects for the program: a ‘HIKI NŌ Did You Know?’ project about Hawaiian Monk Seals.
In a special Teacher Spotlight, E.B. deSilva Elementary School teacher Kathy Sewake shares her thoughts about what makes elementary school students some of the best HIKI NŌ contributors and shares her secret to her media program’s success.
Other stories featured include pieces from Pearl City Highlands Elementary School, Waikīkī Elementary School, Honowai Elementary School, Kainalu Elementary School on Oʻahu, E.B. deSilva Elementary School on Hawaiʻi Island and Pōmaikaʻi Elementary School on Maui.
The show is hosted by Ivory and Summit Chun-Hoon, fifth grade student siblings who attend E.B. deSilva Elementary School on Hawaiʻi Island.
