Program Guide Rewind: April 1976

As we mark our 60th year of broadcasting, we take a look back at our 10th anniversary by sharing our program guide from April 1976. The publication offers a glimpse into the people and programs that helped grow PBS Hawaiʻi into the station it is today.

People of a certain age may recall some of the morning and afternoon programs, as they were often shown in schools to supplement classroom learning. Some of the programs in the guide are still around today, including NOVA, Sesame Street, Great Performances, Washington Week, and Masterpiece.

This edition is also a bittersweet reminder of some of our community supporters, such as Aloha Airlines, Pioneer Federal Savings, and Chuck’s Cellar. While these businesses may no longer be around, their support helped sustain us, and we continue the mission they believed in many years ago.

We’ll be sharing more program guides throughout the year, so please check back again for more Program Guide Rewinds!
