Hawaiʻi’s massive contingent at the annual national Student Television Network media competition over the weekend was again a dominant force, breaking its own record by scooping up 47 awards — seven more than in 2022.

HIKI NŌ student and incoming Kaua`i High School senior Natalie Lett was selected to attend the prestigious PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs’ 2022 Summer Academy. The intensive video journalism boot camp took place at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. Natalie worked with three other student journalists from across the country to produce this outstanding story about Frank Ornelas, who founded the Rascepatatiando Dance Company where he trains promising next generation dancers who don’t have the financial means to enroll in dance classes.
